Frequently Asked Questions
What does a chiropractor at AthleteRX Chiropractic and Recovery in Charlotte actually do?
At AthleteRX Chiropractic and Recovery, Dr. Zachary Price DC, FABBIR, CBIS, CIDN provides hands-on chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and advanced recovery services designed specifically for active individuals and everyday patients alike. Whether you're dealing with back pain, neck stiffness, a sports injury, or just want to move and feel better, we assess your whole body and create a personalized care plan — not a one-size-fits-all protocol. Think of us as your partner in keeping your body performing at its best.
Does AthleteRX offer shockwave therapy in Charlotte, NC — and what can it treat?
Yes! AthleteRX Chiropractic and Recovery offers shockwave therapy in Charlotte, and it's one of the most powerful tools we have for stubborn pain that hasn't responded to other treatments. Shockwave therapy delivers targeted acoustic wave energy deep into damaged tissue to break up scar tissue, stimulate blood flow, and jumpstart your body's natural healing process. It also helps build collagen. At AthleteRX, we use shockwave therapy to treat tendonitis, muscle tears, rotator cuff and shoulder pain, Achilles pain, knee pain, arthritis, foot pain, and plantar fasciitis. If you've been dealing with nagging pain that just won't go away, shockwave therapy may be exactly what your body needs to finally heal.
What is integrative dry needling and how does it relieve pain fast?
Integrative dry needling at AthleteRX is a clinically advanced technique that targets your nervous system directly to interrupt pain signaling at the source — giving you fast, measurable relief from virtually any type of pain. Unlike traditional acupuncture, dry needling focuses specifically on trigger points and dysfunctional nerve pathways that are keeping your body stuck in a pain cycle. Thin, sterile needles are inserted precisely into the affected area, resetting how your nervous system processes pain and restoring normal muscle function. Whether you're dealing with chronic pain, a sports injury, tension headaches, or muscle tightness, integrative dry needling at AthleteRX in Charlotte can deliver rapid relief that other treatments haven't been able to match. Dr. Price is also an instructor for the Integrative Dry Needling Institute.
Can spinal decompression at AthleteRX help with my sciatica, herniated disc, or low back pain?
Absolutely — spinal decompression is one of the most effective non-surgical treatments available for exactly these conditions, and we offer it right here in Charlotte at AthleteRX Chiropractic and Recovery. Spinal decompression therapy gently stretches the spine to create negative pressure between your discs, which helps retract bulging or herniated disc material off the nerves causing your pain. If you're suffering from leg pain, hip pain, low back pain, or sciatica caused by a bulging disc, slipped disc, herniated disc, or arthritis — decompression may provide the lasting relief you've been searching for. Many patients who were told surgery was their only option have found significant improvement through decompression therapy. Come in and let Dr. Price evaluate whether you're a good candidate.
What recovery services does AthleteRX Chiropractic in Charlotte offer beyond traditional adjustments?
At AthleteRX Chiropractic and Recovery in Charlotte, we go far beyond the standard chiropractic adjustment to give your body every tool it needs to heal, perform, and feel its best. In addition to chiropractic care, we offer shockwave therapy for tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal pain; integrative dry needling to rapidly reset pain signals through the nervous system; spinal decompression for herniated discs, sciatica, and low back pain; and the Dahlia Full Body Red Light Therapy Bed for muscle recovery, inflammation reduction, skin tightening, fat reduction, and mood support. Whether you're a competitive athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone who just wants to feel better in their daily life — AthleteRX has the services and the expertise to get you there.
Is chiropractic care safe, and will adjustments hurt?
Chiropractic care is one of the safest, most evidence-based forms of non-invasive healthcare available. Most patients feel immediate relief or a sense of looseness after their adjustment. Some first-time patients experience mild soreness for 24–48 hours (similar to a good workout), but this is very common and temporary. Dr. Price always listens to your comfort level and can modify techniques to be gentler if needed. You're always in control of your care.
What conditions do you treat at AthleteRX Chiropractic in Charlotte, NC?
We treat a wide range of conditions including low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, disc bulges and herniations, headaches and migraines, shoulder and rotator cuff issues, hip and knee pain, sports injuries, and car accident injuries (whiplash). We also work with athletes looking to optimize their performance and recover faster. If you're unsure whether we can help, just call — we're happy to talk through your situation before you even book an appointment or text (704)386-1485. That's our office cell phone.
How many visits will I need before I start feeling better?
That depends on your specific condition, how long you've had it, and your overall health. Many patients feel noticeable improvement within the first 2–4 visits. Acute injuries often respond faster, while chronic or long-standing issues may take longer to fully resolve. After your first visit, Dr. Price will give you a clear, honest picture of what to expect — including a realistic timeline and a care plan that respects your schedule and your budget. He also offers Diagnostic Ultrasound to image the affected soft tissue to visually show you the problem.
Do you accept insurance at AthleteRX Chiropractic and Recovery?
We currently operate as a cash-based practice, which actually works in your favor. It means no surprise bills, no waiting on insurance approvals, and straightforward pricing you know upfront. Our single visit rate is $125. We offer packages based to your individual needs to fix the problem, not just get you out of pain(that's the easy part). We also accept HSA and FSA. Many patients find that our transparent, package-based pricing saves them money compared to traditional insurance co-pays and deductibles. Most patients are also eligible to receive a superbill where they can submit it to their insurance for possible reimbursement.
What is red light therapy and what are the benefits?
Red light therapy (also called photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate your body's natural healing processes at the cellular level. At AthleteRX, our Dahlia Full Body Light Therapy Bed delivers clinically studied benefits including accelerated muscle recovery, pain relief, reduced inflammation, skin tightening, mood support, and even targeted fat reduction. It's completely non-invasive, painless, and takes about 10–15 minutes per session. It's a perfect complement to your chiropractic care or as a standalone wellness service.
